Our Vision
Our Story
To help struggling businesses in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas by way of educating, training, and financial support.  Everyone needs help at some point, and we take on the responsibility to aid those businesses in need in any way we can.
OCCD was formed in May 2009 by a group of small business owners and community activists who have one thing in common:  To make Oak Cliff a better place to live and to do business.  We care about our community, and we will take the neccessary steps to improve all that makes a community strong!

Oak Cliff Community Development (OCCD), a 501(c)3 non- profit organization was established in May 2009 to help struggling small businesses in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas.  Due to the September 2008 financial markets crash, small business owners were the hardest hit by the economic crisis and suffered substantial financial losses.  Many small businesses were forced to close their doors and countless others were threatened to do so due to the drastic effects of our nation's economic troubles.

Countless efforts were made in the revitalization of the Oak Cliff community in recent years.  A fund has been established to raise money to assist these small businesses in Oak Cliff to help sustain them during the economic crisis.  Oak Cliff Community Development (OCCD) will make one- time financial contributions in the amounts of $2500 up to $5000 to help these businesses in our community.

Here's a look at a couple of business owners in our community experiencing financial trouble:

"Since February, I have struggled to pay rent at my store.  I've been unable to get help anywhere. I must pay $2500 by the 5th or I will be locked out of my store. Please help. I would appreciate anything you can do to help my store stay open."

"I've been in business here in Southwest Center Mall for 18 years, and with the decline of the mall it has been really hard.  I've had to layoff 7 employees and I am down to 1 part- timer and
myself. A grant will help me hire a full- time employee and advertise, which will bring more traffic to my store."

OAK CLIFF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
These are only two of many small business owners who are feeling the pressure in making ends meet for their respective businesses. Due to these and other business owners feeling the pressure, a fund has been established to raise money for the assistance of small businesses in Oak Cliff to help sustain them during this crisis. Oak Cliff Community Development (OCCD) will give one- time financial distributions in the amounts of $2500 up to $5,000 to help small businesses in our community. OCCD will serve our community by raising and distributing funds, assist in business development, and to provide needed training to help increase the survival rate of these businesses in our community.
